Shri Arjun Munda Union Minister of Tribal Affairs inaugurates TRISSAM brand outlet and website at IIE

TRISSAM a brand outlet under the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY)  scheme  and website was formally inaugurated today at the Indian Institute of Enterpreneurship (IIE) premise by Shri Arjun Munda, Hon’ble Minister of Tribal Affairs, Government of India in the presence of Shri Promod Boro, CEM, BTC, Shri Pravir Krishna (IAS), Secretary Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India and Managing Director TRIFED, Shri Mukesh Chandra Sahu, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare and Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes, Government of Assam,Shri, Wilson Hasda, nominated member , BTC, Dr. Nilut Swargiary, EM BTC, Smt. Pratibha Brahma, Vice Chairman, TRIFED, Shri AD Mishra, Regional Member, TRIFED,  Shri Abhijit Sharma, Director IIE, invited guests, senior faculties, staffs and valued customers.

Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) scheme that aims to empower the marginalized tribal communities of our country, with the ultimate motive of making them self reliant in earning an adequate livelihood for themselves and their families. The scheme aims to bring to the forefront the tribal forest dwellers depending on the country’s forest cover to earn their livelihood. While inaugurating the outlet and its website Chief Guest Shri Arjun Munda, Minister Tribal Affairs said, “To provide a shot in the arm to the value added product sales, IIE has accommodated a full-fledged sale counter cum office for the TRISSAM brand in its premises. With the brand having a wide customer base ranging from bulk buyers to retail customers, the institute aims that with the launch of a physical sale counter and its website in Guwahati, the brand will have an increased presence and better customer impression.” Shri Promod Boro, CEM, BTC present on the inauguration said, “I am very happy to learn that approximately 30,000 tribal beneficiaries are engaged in production of value added products, getting trained under various value addition and entrepreneurship development schemes and also successfully earning their livelihood as their produced value products are channelized into the retail market by the empanelled marketing agencies on boarded by the resource agency.”

Addressing the gathering Shri Pravir Krishna, Secretary MOTA and MD TRIFED said "We have to realise that tribal development is not something just providing them with free houses, free cycles, free grains. I mean that's important we don't deny, but I believe that if money is transferred through livelihood generation in areas of forest produce in which they are the masters will make them self-reliant". Shri Mukesh Chandra Sahu, Principal Secretary, Social Welfare and Welfare of Plain Tribe & Backward Classes, Government of Assam, also spoke on the occasion. He said, “In Assam, the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) scheme has been primarily sponsored by TRIFED under Ministry of Tribal Affairs and is being implemented by Assam Plain Tribes Development Corporation with Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes being the state nodal agency. The implementing agency with the help of Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship as its resource agency has been driving the project in the state. As of now, the engaged beneficiaries have been producing a number of products which includes: Black Rice, Black Pepper, Dried Oyster Mushrooms, Wild Honey, Mustard Oil, Turmeric Powder, Hill Brooms, etc to name a few.”

In Assam, the Pradhan Mantri Van Dhan Yojana (PMVDY) scheme has been implemented by Assam Plain Tribes Development Corporation with Welfare of Plain Tribes and Backward Classes being the state nodal agency. The Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship as a resource agency has been supporting the implementing agency in driving the project in the state. The scheme is currently in its 2nd phase of implementation where approximately 30,000 tribal beneficiaries are engaged in production of value added products, getting trained under various value addition and entrepreneurship development schemes and also successfully earning their livelihood as their produced value products are channelized into the retail market by the empanelled marketing agencies on boarded by the resource agency. As of now, the engaged beneficiaries have been producing a number of products which includes: Black Rice, Black Pepper, Dried Oyster Mushrooms, Wild Honey, Mustard Oil, Turmeric Powder, Hill Brooms, etc to name a few.
