Guwahti, 10th of September, 2015: A series of seven day Training programmes on ‘Entrepreneurship and Retail Skill to Self Help Group (SHG) Members from Tea community of Assam’, have commenced here in Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE), Guwahati today. These programmes have been sponsored by Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission Society (ASRLMS), Guwahati, Assam.

Inaugurating the Programme, Shri. Nitin Khade, State Mission Director, ASRLMS, Assam emphasized on the concept of ‘Bagan Bazaar’ as an innovative entrepreneurial start-up initiative to be undertaken by the SHG members of the Tea Community. It will fulfil a long cherished demand of the community resulting in empowerment and upliftment of the community. He stressed on the importance of development of core competencies among individuals as well as team work which is necessary for ensuring sustainable livelihood.

 A total number of 75 women participants from 25 different tea gardens of Assam have participated in these programmes. As an Inaugural remark, Shri. W.R Singh, Associate Faculty Member welcomed the participants and stressed on the effective participation of the trainees. Earlier highlighting the objective of the programme, Shri. Santanu Mohan Deka, Assistant Faculty Member, IIE, stated that the programmes will provide hands-on retail management skills coupled with entrepreneurial orientation cum soft skills for sustainable management of the Bagan Bazaar initiative in Assam.

In his concluding remark, Shri. A.K. Baruah, Chief Programme Co-ordinator, IIE, reiterated on boosting up the aspirations of the participants which will ultimately motivate them to achieve the real success.
