Guwahati, 24 August: Valedictory function of the first batch of training of Women Entrepreneurship on Jewellery Making was held at IIE Guwahati from 20th July to 18th August, 2015. 20 women participants from SC communityfrom Nagaon district have successfully completed the training. The fully residential training programme was sponsored by Industries and Commerce Department, Govt. of Assam and organized by Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE).

The closing function was attended by Shri Manoj K. Das, Director IIE, Shri Sheo Shankar Singh, Chairman of Assam Grameen Vikas Bank (AGVB), Dr. S. B. Baruah, Head CIE, IIE, and Dr. Minakshi Devi, Deputy Director, Industries and Commerce Department, Assam.

The function was inaugurated by the Director of IIE, Sh Manoj K. Das. In his speech he welcomed the participants and asked them to utilise the skill acquired in fulfilling their dreams. Dr. S. B. Baruah mentioned that the trainees were very serious and picked up skills in a record time. Dr Meenakshi Devi said that the products that have come up are amazing and will definitely find acceptance in the mass market.

The main highlights of this programme was the offer by Chairman AGVB to finance the ventures of the trainees at Raha, Nagaon. He suggested the trainees to form two groups whom AGVB will finance. He further mentioned that AGVB Raha branch will provide a show window for the travelling customers along the East West Corridor.

The products developed by the trainees, namely fold forming jewellery in  copper, bead earning,  pendant, macramé jewellery, necklace bracelets etc. were displayed.

Various soft skill, interactive and motivational sessions on Entrepreneurship were given to the participants such as personality development, understanding business development, formalities and availing bank finance, decision making etc. A special session on project report was also conducted based upon the suggestion of the Chairman, AGVB.
